Careers Of The Future

After many years of not knowing which career I wanted to purse, I finally decided I wanted to become a lawyer, not just any lawyer a corporate lawyer. About 2-3 years ago I started volunteering for the Olathe Youth Court program, there I was able to experience real criminal cases committed by minors, where I could be put in different positions in an all youth court. It was when I actually saw what it is like to be a part of both sides (prosecution and defense) that I knew I wanted to become a lawyer. There are many field of law but I choose corporate because of my family business background. It takes about 14 years of education to become a corporate lawyer with popular undergraduate majors in business, finance, and economics. Before entering Law school I would need a Bachelor’s Degree and a high LSAT score (Law School Admission Test). Once entering Law school I would start studying for 3 years to earn a Jurist Doctor in Law (J.D.). Afterwards there would be the option of more schooling for my Masters in Law, and finally the Bar Exam. I know it is a lot of schooling but at least it’s not as long as doctoring. I can keep on dreaming for the day I am accepted into Stanford Law, but as of right now I am aiming for Duke University. The tuition cost for a degree with the extra adds on of housing, books, etc. Is $323,748 for 4 years of schooling? Even though it’s expensive it will all pay off once I earn a high paying job at a big company such as Google or Toyota with a yearly salary of about $160,000. Duke University

If becoming a lawyer does not work out for me, I will become a Business Executive/Owner. I have decided to have that as my backup career, because we have a family business of hotel franchises passed down from two generations maybe making me the third. Also I have always loved going to work with my dad and I always see him in his work mode 24/7. Education required to become a business executive/owner is a bachelor’s degree and if I choose to, a graduate degree. If I chose to go down this career path I would like to go out of state to the University of Miami. Although tuition is costly for it costs $249,368 for 4 years of schooling. But the average salary of a business executive/owner is roughly about $170,653.    Miami University
